Helpless and hopeless have become our dwelling place. Those who lead with fear, intimidation, and lies have taken over. They threaten us all day long with illegal termination and poor work performance reviews. Everyone is afraid of losing their jobs in this economy, and there is no place or anyone to turn to or run to for help. You look at me, I look at you, this is now what we do at the office, not sure who they would fire next or punish. Suffering and smiling is the game we play at the office now, with the hope that you will come back soon. Would he be coming back? Why is this investigation taking too long? Have they fired him for no reason? These are the questions that we whisper under our breaths, among each other, hoping no one hears it and reports us to the leaders who now lead with intimidation. Staying out of the way is now my “MO”, and the same for others. More than 15 individuals have agreed to leave once it is made official that you are gone for good. Five have already gone, and the rest either refuse to come to work or leave in the middle of their shift. While someone like me sits and writes with hope that you or someone else sees it and rescues us from the hands of leaders who lead with intimidation and false employment termination. Will you see it first? Would somebody else see it first? Or would the leaders who lead with intimidation see it first? These are the questions I ask myself with no answer.
