Dream

“It doesn’t count how fast you start to run, all that counts is the pace and consistency of the run and finishing the race on time”. Was the statement a man I met in my dream two nights ago told me after asking four people including myself to compete in a 10-minute race for a job position.
Four of us were fighting for an employment opportunity in the police department. Inside the dream, two people immediately took off fast and started running. Then, the third guy followed them afterward, he wasn’t running as fast as the other two.

On the other hand, I was running a bit slow, and within five minutes of the race, the two that started very fast got tired and stopped to drink water. Then, I and the other guy continued running. Shortly, he too started getting tired, and as he was getting tired, I was still running slowly and slowly. Within a few minutes before the 10 minutes race was about to finish, I quickly increased my speed and passed him and the other two. I was able to complete the race first before the 10 minutes were over.

The man ended up disqualifying those two individuals that started off running fast during the initial stage. The other guy and I were obviously the only two that were left, we held each other’s hands waiting for the man to say something. The man stood in front of us while we were holding each other’s hands with our faces and bodies facing one another. He proceeded to make the above statement, then continued with his other comments.
As he faced me, he began telling me how I was best fitted for the job because of my law enforcement background and education. Shortly after that, he turned to the guy and told him that he wasn’t as qualified as me and he wasn’t the first person to finish the race. He concluded his statement by offering me the job. I woke up right after he told me that the position was now mine.
What is the moral lesson of this dream?
